Terpen's product development is focused on peptides, across the health, wellness and beauty categories.
Peptides sit between small molecules and proteins in size. They are built to a defined sequence, which means they can be characterized precisely and specified consistently from one batch to the next.
Composition
Peptides are short chains of amino acids joined by peptide bonds. Chains of roughly fifty or fewer are generally described as peptides. Longer chains are proteins.
Origin
Peptides occur naturally in the body and in common foods. They are also produced synthetically for use as ingredients in consumer product categories.
Synthesis
Most commercial peptides are produced by solid phase peptide synthesis, which assembles the chain one amino acid at a time in a defined order.
Characterization
Identity and purity are established by analytical methods such as high performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry.
